# Configure DaVinci Resolve

## External Scripting

To configure your DaVinci Resolve preferences for external scripting, follow these steps:

* Open DaVinci Resolve.
* Go to the menu bar located at the top of the screen.
* Go to the top menu and select **DaVinci Resolve**.
* From the dropdown menu, select **Preferences.**
* Navigate to the **System** tab.
* Scroll down to find the **General** section and find the option labelled **External Scripting Using**.
* From the dropdown menu, select **Local**.

## Check Python Configuration

To check if Python is installed and can be accessed by DaVinci Resolve, navigate to the console and follow these steps:

* Open DaVinci Resolve.
* Go to the top menu and select **Workspace**.
* From the dropdown menu, select **Console**.
* In the console window, select the **Py3** tab.
* If Python is not installed or configured correctly, you will receive an error message stating that **Python 3 was not found**.&#x20;
* If Python is installed and recognised by DaVinci Resolve, the console will open with no error message, and you can use ReMark X without further installation.
